After going DE, S in Rounds 1 and 2, I have the Dolphins addressing the LB position in Round 3. Anderson has great technique, and gets off of blocks well to make tackles. He was a five star recruit in high school, and had 4 forced dumbles to go with 8.5 sacks his senior year at Alabama. His ability to rush the passer off the edge makes him a great fit for the Dolphins, and Anderson would likely compete for the 3rd linebacker position from Day 1. With Anderson, the Dolphins get their 3rd defensive starter in as many rounds.
Having addressed their main two issues already on defense, the Dolphins add a first round prospect in Jones who suffered an achilles injury earlier this month. Jones was a lock to go in round 1, and with Marcus Peters-like ability, the Dolphins steal him in the third. Adam Gase has already stated he would like to add more defensive backs, and Jones is a Day 1 starter when healthy.
Maye has great size at the safety position (6-feet, 210 pounds), and can be a contributor on special teams as well. With a little bit of development, he will surpass Nate Allen as the starter alongside Reshad Jones. He is great football player, All-American for USA Today, and had 205 total tackles in college. His ability to play in the box will help the Dolphins in the run game too.
The Dolphins take two Hawkeyes in a row, and grab a physical beast in Johnson to work into the defensive line rotation. With Jordan Phillips and Ndamukong Suh great run-stuffers, Johnson could come in on third down and do what he does best - rush the passer from the inside.
