REDEMPTION TIME

The Dolphins have started off 0-2 exactly once since the AFL-NFL merger back in 1970, but that's exactly what they're staring at as they head into Sunday's game against the New York Jets at Giants Stadium.

More importantly, the loser of this game will find itself in an early hole in the AFC East race, particularly if Buffalo wins at Jacksonville and goes to 2-0.

The Dolphins, who were only at 0-2 in 1988 when they went on to finish 6-10, don't intend of repeating the mistakes that cost them last Sunday against the Houston Texans.

"I'm not even looking at 0-2," said defensive end Adewale Ogunleye. "I know after this game, we will be 1-1. I'm not even looking at being 0-2. It's not even in the back of my mind. We will be 1-1 after this game and hopefully go on upward from there."
