According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Miami Dolphins have added WR Mitch Mathews. Mathews has been an NFL journeyman, playing for 3 different teams in the league after not being drafted in 2016.
He played college football at BYU.
The Dolphins signed Mathews after Rashawn Scott went down with a mild foot injury. Scott outplayed rookie Leonte Carroo last season for the fourth receiver spot, and will compete again with Carroo. He is expected to be ready to go come Week 1.
Another name impressing in camp is Julius Thomas, who has shone flashes of the player he was with the Denver Broncos under Gase back in 2013 and 2014, when he had 12 TD's in each season. Thomas has really impress backup QB Matt Moore, according to Armando Salguero. The Dolphins will need Thomas to step up and fill the pass-catching TE role that was lost when Dion Sims signed with the Bears this off-season.
