The Dolphins wasted little time filling their roster spot this weekend, signing defensive end Tony Brown off the Carolina Panthers practice squad.

Brown takes the place of veteran defensive end Rob Burnett, who was placed on injured reserve Friday because of a knee injury he sustained in the Thanksgiving Day victory at Dallas.

Don't expect Brown to see much action, if any, the rest of this season.

Instead, you can expect David Bowens to become more of a factor on defense. Bowens recently was activated after spending most of the season on the non-football injury list with a knee injury.

Brown is a 6-1, 280-pound rookie who has some experience at defensive tackle, although he's probably undersized to play that spot in the Dolphins' scheme.

Brown played collegiately at Memphis, where he was a teammate of Dolphins rookie offensive tackle Wade Smith.
