SWITCH IN SECONDARY

The Dolphins made a roster move this week when they signed former Carolina Panthers safety Ray Green to take the place of Trent Gamble, who was place on injured reserve.
Gamble underwent season-ending shoulder surgery in Alabama on Wednesday.

Green, who will wear number 40 with the Dolphins, is a second-year player from South Carolina who was a college teammate of Arturo Freeman.

After making the team as an undrafted rookie free agent, Green played in all 16 games for Carolina last year, making nine tackles on special teams.

As for Gamble, he became the fourth Dolphins player placed on injured reserve this year, following WR Albert Johnson and offensive tackles Brent Smith and Marcus Spriggs.

The loss of Gamble, a terrific special teams player, is not nearly as significant with the emergence of Scott McGarrahan, who has been outstanding since joining the team from the Green Bay Packers shortly before the start of the regular season.
