The victory over the Buffalo Bills proved costly, as starting left guard Mark Dixon sustained a leg injury that will sideline him for the rest of the season.

Dixon broke his left fibula late in the fourth quarter, and further examination revealed ligament damage as well.

Surgery might not be needed, but Dixon is done for the season nonetheless and he figures to be placed on injured reserve shortly.

The Dolphins figure to look to see who's available on the waiver wire, with another possibility being the promotion of Anthony Cesario from the practice squad.

Veteran Heath Irwin, who started at center against Buffalo in place of injured starter Tim Ruddy, will replace Dixon in the starting lineup, with rookie free agent Troy Andrew becoming the top backup at guard and center for the time being.
