Training camp officially opened on Saturday and there finally was a bit of good news in that all of the team's six draft picks were in attendance after a flurry of signings on Friday.

The last rookie to sign was first-round pick Vernon Carey, who agreed to a five-year deal.

Earlier, CB Will Poole, LB Tony Bua, C Rex Hadnot, T Tony Pape and LB Derrick Pope all had signed four-year deals.

The only player missing in action in the first practice was defensive end Adewale Ogunleye, who remains without a contract.

Meanwhile, LB Zach Thomas (knee), T Damion McIntosh (ankle) and S Shawn Wooden (lower back) sat out practice after being placed on the physically unable to perform list.

All three can watch practice and attend meetings while on PUP but cannot practice.

Thomas did some jogging on Saturday morning and said he hopes to be back at practice after the team returns to Miami from workouts in Houston next weekend.

The team also placed Ricky Williams on the Reserve/Did Not Report list. The move freed up about $3.7 million of cap space.
