Three players released

The Dolphins continued tweaking their roster on Thursday by releasing three players, including three-year veteran offensive lineman Greg Jerman.

Jerman originally joined the Dolphins as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2002 and was one of the top backups on the line in his second season.

He entered training camp last summer first on the depth chart at right guard but eventually was beaten out by former third-round pick Taylor Whitley and barely saw any action all season.

Also released on Thursday were running back Avon Cobourne and safety Mitch Meeuwsen.

Cobourne had been signed in the offseason, but his chances of making the team all but disappeared when the Dolphins drafted Ronnie Brown and also signed undrafted Kay-Jay Harris, who followed Cobourne at West Virginia.

As for Meeuwsen, he was one of the 16 undrafted free agents signed after the draft, so his stay with the Dolphins lasted less than three weeks.
