Dolphins to honor Marino

The Dolphins on Wednesday announced plans to celebrate their 40th NFL season and also announced they will be honored soon-to-be Hall of Famer Dan Marino at halftime of the Oct. 23 home game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Marino officially will become the ninth former Dolphin to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Aug. 7 when he will be presented by his oldest son, Daniel.

This isn't the first time the Dolphins have honored Marino. You may recall a 2000 Sunday night game against Baltimore when the team placed him on the Dolphin Honor Roll.

As for the 40th anniversary celebration, a special commemorative logo has been designed and the Dolphins will wear a 40th season patch on their uniforms throughout the 2005 season.

The logo all will be on display at Dolphins Stadium this season and 40th season merchandise will be made available for sale at a later date.
