New deal for D-Bo

The Dolphins signed defensive end David Bowens to a one-year contract extension on Friday while also coming to terms with two of their draft picks.

Fourth-round pick Travis Daniels and defensive tackle Manuel Wright, selected in the fifth round of the supplemental draft, both signed four-year contracts.

The four-year deal ensures that the Dolphins won't have to worry about either player being a restricted free agent after three years. That might not seem like a big deal, but consider that defensive end Adewale Ogunleye held out as a restricted free agent last year before being traded.

As for Bowens, the one-year extension now means he's signed through the 2006 season. He originally had been scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the upcoming season.
