Veteran guard signed

The Dolphins continued to bolster their ailing offensive line on Wednesday when they signed eight-year veteran Frank Middleton. To make room on the roster, the Dolphins waived wide receiver Ronald Bellamy.

A former third-round pick of 1997, Middleton was released by Oakland in late February in a salary-cap move. He spent four seasons with the Raiders after playing the first four years of his NFL career with the Bucs.

Middleton has been a starter for most of his caeer, but injuries cut short his last two seasons. Last year, for example, he started the first seven games before being sidelined by a quadriceps injury.

Middleton is a 6-3, 330-pound guard and he will wear number 71 with the Dolphins. He played collegiately at Arizona.

As for Bellamy, he was with the Dolphins the past two years and appeared in two games. He had the only catch of his NFL career in last year's season finale at Baltimore.
