Tuesday notes

With the Dolphins having their bye this weekend, they will have a short week of work. The Dolphins, who were off Monday and Tuesday, will practice Wednesday and Thursday before the players get the weekend off.

Coach Nick Saban has indicated that he feels players need a break after every six games, so don't be surprised to see him give his players a Monday after their ninth game.

Of the Dolphins injuries sustained in the victory over Carolina Sunday, the one involving linebacker Junior Seau could be the most serious.

Seau underwent an MRI on Monday and we should have more details Wednesday.

Also injured were safety Tebucky Jones and Ronnie Brown, both of whom have hamstring problems.

Speaking of Brown, he won Saban's vote for Dolphins offensive player of the game along with the entire offensive line. Zach Thomas and Lance Schulters got the nod on defense, while Olindo Mare and Yeremiah Bell were the choices on special teams.

Those keeping tabs on Jay Fiedler with the Jets will be interested to know that he will be out at least a couple of months, and possibly the entire season, after sustaining a dislocated right shoulder in Sunday's loss to Jacksonville.

Ironically, Fiedler's injury comes at the same time as a torn rotator cuff that will sideline Chad Pennington for the rest of the year.

It's really bad luck for Fiedler, a legitimately good guy who could have gotten a shot to start for the Jets the rest of the season.

For those still thinking about the Dolphins bringing in former LSU quarterback Rohan Davey, he signed with the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday.
