Wednesday notes

We might not know for sure until Sunday, but it looks as though the Dolphins could be facing a different Buffalo starting quarterback. They also might have to do so without the services of linebacker Junior Seau, who missed practiced Wednesday because of a calf injury.

Seau is listed as questionable on the Dolphins' official injury report. He was the only player to miss practice on Wednesday.

There has been a lot of speculation coming out of Buffalo that Coach Mike Mularkey will bench first-year starting quarterback JP Losman in favor of veteran Kelly Holcomb.

But Mularkey told the South Florida media in a conference call that he wasn't going to talk about any starters, on either his own team or the Dolphins.

Losman, who has struggled all season, was scheduled to be on a conference call as well, but it was former Dolphins defensive back Troy Vincent who wound up being interviewed.

Cornerback Will Poole said Wednesday he didn't know whether he'd be able to return this season from the torn ACL he sustained in the offseason.

Poole indicated he has not starting running yet, but has been riding the stationary bike, doing light drills on the field and lifting weights.

Poole currently is on the Physically Unable to Perform list, where he must remain for at least the first six weeks of the regular season.
