Ciao to Chatman

Now that the Dolphins have a surplus of running backs with Ricky Williams back from his suspension, they decided to part with Jesse Chatman, who was sent to New Orleans for a conditional seventh-round pick in 2006.

Chatman joined the Dolphins shortly before the start of the regular season after spending the last couple of years as LaDainian Tomlinson's backup in San Diego.

Chatman was inactive for the Dolphins' first four games this season and he seemed the logical candidate to be let go when Williams' roster exemption ended and a roster spot needed to be created.

The Saints, for their part, were in the market for a running back after starter Deuce McAllister sustained a season-ending knee injury in their 52-3 loss to Green Bay on Sunday.

On the subject of Williams, he will not address the media until after Sunday's game at Tampa Bay.
