Feeley sent away

If A.J. Feeley is ever going to become a productive quarterback in the NFL, it won't be with the Dolphins. Feeley was traded to San Diego on Tuesday in exchange for third-string quarterback Cleo Lemon. The Dolphins also had to throw in a sixth-round pick to the Chargers.

Lemon, the leading pass in Arkansas State history, has never thrown an NFL pass in his two seasons, both spent with the Chargers.

He actually was the fourth quarterback on the roster last season when San Diego had Doug Flutie, in addition to current quarterbacks Drew Brees and Philip Rivers.

The Dolphins wound up saving money on the salary cap with the deal, which might explain why they had to throw in the draft pick to complete the deal.

The trade puts an end to Feeley's disappointing stay with the Dolphins.

After ending last season as the starter, Feeley not only was beaten out by veteran free agent acquisition Gus Frerotte for the starting job, he dropped to No. 3 on the depth chart behind Sage Rosenfels.
