Tuesday notes

The Dolphins have been getting good contributions from a few of their draft choices so far this season, most notably running back Ronnie Brown, linebacker Channing Crowder and cornerback Travis Daniels. Supplemental draft pick Manuel Wright, meanwhile, continues to work to put himself in a position to get some playing time.

Wright has been inactive for all seven games so far, but Coach Nick Saban said last week Wright is making progress.

When asked how close Wright was to actually suiting up on game day and seeing some game action, Saban replied, "One injury away."

It should not come as a major shock that Wright hasn't played because he was chosen in the supplemental draft because of his long-range potential, not because the Dolphins expected him to come in and make an immediate impact -- unlike what was suggested by some in the preseason.

Guard Taylor Whitley, who flopped as a third-round pick of the Dolphins and was released this preseason, has hooked up with the Denver Broncos, who no doubt will teach him the art of cut blocking. ... Fullback Heath Evans, meanwhile, reportedly will be joining the New England Patriots. That means he will get to face his former team in two Sundays when the Pats come to Dolphins Stadium for a 1 p.m. game.

Of the two veterans, Junior Seau and Sam Madison, who missed Sunday's game against New Orleans, Seau would appear to be the one more likely to return against Atlanta on Sunday.
