Still quality on the market

The Dolphins have been very busy so far in free agency, signing seven unrestricted free agents to go along with the trade for quarterback Daunte Culpepper. But the feeling is they're not quite done yet. With that in mind, we offer's position-by-position list of the top remaining free agents and an analysis of those who might interest Nick Saban.

Kerry Collins

Anthony Wright

Tommy Maddox

Jamie Martin

Jay Fiedler

Tony Banks

Dolphins interest: Word is the Dolphins are very much interested in Kerry Collins, but that Collins wants to be able to fight for a starting job, which won't happen in Miami. The Dolphins also might consider former Detroit starter Joey Harrington, but probably will balk at sending the Lions a draft pick in return considering they know Harrington will be released no later than June. As for the other guys on this list, Tommy Maddox's name has been brought up because of his familiarity with Mike Mularkey, but the truth is Maddox was nothing short of brutal as a backup for the Steelers last season.

Running Backs

Anthony Thomas

Antowain Smith

Jonathan Wells

Sammy Morris

Lamar Gordon

Stephen Davis

Tony Hollings

Mike Cloud

Dolphins interest: The Dolphins won't do anything here until they find out what Ricky Williams' status for 2006 will be. Sammy Morris very well might wind up back in Miami now that Maurice Morris has re-signed with Seattle.

Jerald Sowell

Jarrod Baxter

Daimon Shelton

Dolphins interest: The Dolphins are set at this position after the signing of free agent Fred Beasley.

Wide Receivers

Peerless Price

Kevin Johnson

Dez White

Az-Zahir Hakim (PR)

Randy Hymes

David Boston

Johnnie Morton

Troy Edwards

Michael Lewis (KR/PR)

Troy Walters (PR)

Dolphins interest: The Dolphins really could use another good wide receiver, but there's little on this list worthy of consideration.

Tight Ends

Boo Williams

Lamont Hall

Terry Jones

Roland Williams

Dolphins interest: The Dolphins already signed Justin Peelle in free agency to backup Randy McMichael, so they're likely done here.

Tutan Reyes

Ron Stone

Kendyl Jacox

Victor Riley (OT)

Fred Weary

Tom Nutten

Dolphins interest: None of those guys would represent an upgrade over Rex Hadnot and Jeno James.

Offensive Tackles

Damion McIntosh

Brad Hopkins (LT)

Orlando Brown

Mike Pearson

Matt Stinchcomb

Todd Fordham

Ephraim Salaam

Todd Steussie

Dolphins interest: The Dolphins reportedly had Pearson in for a visit, so they're obviously interested in the former Florida Gators standout. Steussie and Hopkins both are guys who once were solid but are part their prime.

Jeff Mitchell

Trey Teague

Cory Raymer

Dolphins interest: The two studs at this position -- LeCharles Bentley and Kevin Mawae already are off the market.

Todd Peterson

Paul Edinger

Dolphins interest: With reports of the Dolphins asking Olindo Mare to take a pay cut and the visit by Mike Vanderjagt, we're left to wonder if Nick Saban actually might sign one of those two guys and let Mare go.

Jason Baker

Kyle Richardson

Tom Rouen

Tom Tupa

Sean Landeta

Dolphins interest: None. Donnie Jones is a keeper.

Defensive Tackles

Brenston Buckner

Sam Adams

Jason Fisk

Grady Jackson

James Reed

Lance Legree

Ed Jasper

Steve Martin

Dolphins interest: The one name here is Adams, who already has visited the Dolphins. We're thinking if financial considerations can be worked out, Adams could replace Keith Traylor at nose tackle.

Defensive Ends

Lance Johnstone

Duane Clemons

Gary Walker (DT in 4-3)

Adrian Dingle

Dolphins interest: Probably none. The Dolphins are pretty set at this spot.

Inside Linebackers

Rocky Calmus

Nick Griesen (WLB)

Earl Holmes

Chris Claiborne

Brad Kassell

Saleem Rasheed

Dolphins interest: None of those guys are likely to raise much interest from Miami.

Outside Linebackers

LaVar Arrington (WLB)

Na'il Diggs (WLB/SLB)

Jamie Sharper (WLB/SLB)

Tommy Polley (WLB)

Chad Brown (SLB/WLB)

Jamie Winborn (SLB)

Peter Boulware (SLB)

Keith Newman (SLB)

Barrett Green (WLB)

Brandon Short (SLB, WLB)

Junior Seau (WLB)

Warrick Holdman (WLB)

Keith Adams (WLB)

Dolphins interest: The guy here obviously is Arrington, who price tag will need to come down before he gets signed by ANYBODY. He obviously would be a great addition to the Dolphins defense. Beyond Arrington, there doesn't appear to be a difference-maker in the bunch.

Charles Woodson

Ahmed Plummer

Eric Warfield

Ty Law

Andre Dyson

Dexter McCleon

Reggie Howard

Ray Mickens

Willie Williams

Jamar Fletcher

Dolphins interest: At the right price, there are several quality players here, namely Woodson and Law. Plummer has battled injuries in recent years, but he's a good corner who could be had at a decent price.

Idrees Bashir

Antuan Edwards

Marcus Coleman

Tebucky Jones

Brent Alexander

Lance Schulters

Keion Carpenter

Deke Cooper

Ronnie Heard

Earl Little

Jerry Wilson

Ifeanyi Ohalete

Bracy Walker

Mel Mitchell

Mike Logan

John Howell

Dolphins interest: Interesting that two of the guys on this list were starters for the Dolphins last season -- Jones and Schulters. The Dolphins have shown no inclination to try to re-sign either. It's a rather lackluster group, really.
