No deal

Who knows for how long, but Eddie Moore is still a member of the Miami Dolphins. The trade that would have sent the linebacker to New Orleans for fellow linebacker Courtney Watson is off after Moore failed his physical with the Saints.

The issue is Moore's right knee, the one he injured late in the 2004 season and the one that landed him on injured reserve last November.

It will be interesting to see what's going to happen with Moore, whose future with the Dolphins obviously doesn't appear bright at this time.

It also will be interesting to see if Nick Saban tries to acquire Watson some other way.

Moore initially injured his knee late in the 2004 season after playing in 13 games with four starts that year.

He began the preseason last year on PUP as he struggled to bounce back from the injury. Moore appeared in five games last year, seeing action on special teams, but had problems shaking off the injury and that eventually landed him on IR.

Saban said at the time that Moore had the potential to become a good layer if he could stay healthy.

As we mentioned before, though, Moore isn't a good fit for Saban's defense because he's rather small for a linebacker. Moore is listed at 6-1, 235, even though his weight probably is closer to 220.
