Dolphins Get New DB

With injuries affecting the secondary, the Dolphins picked up some depth at that position on Wednesday when they claimed cornerback Chris Thompson off waivers from the Cleveland Browns.

It's the second time in a little over a month that Thompson has been claimed off waivers. Back on July 7, he was claimed by the Browns off waivers from Chicago.

Thompson spent last season with the Bears, recording seven tackles on defense and eight on special teams in 10 games. Thompson, who was inactive for all 16 games as a rookie with Jacksonville in 2004, is 6 feet, 190 pounds.

He took part in Wednesday afternoon's practice.

But the Dolphins were missing cornerbacks Travis Daniels and Michael Lehan, both of whom are out with injuries.

Wide receiver Kelly Campbell appeared to aggravate a leg injury while making a catch near the sidelines. Campbell was wearing a red jersey at practice, indicative of a player who is injured but can still work.

Also missing practice were guard/center Seth McKinney and wide receiver Marty Booker.

Booker has a minor calf injury, while McKinney reportedly is undergoing tests to determine the extent of an upper-body injury.
