Culpepper To Play

Nick Saban answered the big question Thursday morning when he indicated that Daunte Culpepper would play in Saturday night's preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"He has done everything in practice that he needs to do," Saban said. "And he wants to play."

Now, don't expect Culpepper to get a whole of action in his first appearance in a game since last October. But the mere fact that he'll play is a good indication of just how far he has come since he tore three knee ligaments in that game at Carolina.

All four quarterbacks -- Culpepper, Joey Harrington, Cleo Lemon and Brock Berlin -- now are expected to see action against the Jaguars, and you can look for Culpepper to be gone after either one or two series.

Among the injured players who probably won't play are WR Marty Booker, WR Kelly Campbell, G Seth McKinney and CB Travis Daniels.
