Third-round pick Seth McKinney called Coach Dave Wannstedt on Sunday to tell him he really wanted to get his contract situation resolved so he could beginning practicing. About two hours later, McKinney signed a three-year contract.<P>

Whether McKinney's phone call helped speed up the process is debatable, but it certainly didn't hurt.

McKinney went through his first practice on Monday, missing three days of action. McKinney said he was chomping at the bit to report.

That's why he called Wannstedt.

"I had to do that for myself," he said. "I was stressing. I really did want to be there."

The lost time wound up being minimal, and McKinney said he picked up where he left off in the minicamps.

"I learned everything then, so it wasn't a big deal for me (getting back into the swing of things)," he said. "It worked out great for both sides."

In addition to McKinney, the Dolphins also added safety Jason Moore, a product of San Diego State who played in NFL Europe this spring.
