Wide receiver Dedric Ward went to New York on Friday and had his ailing foot checked out. And the Dolphins were pleased with the results.

Ward had an MRI taken and the results showed no damage. After the exam, Ward hopped on a plan to rejoin the Dolphins in Nashville, Tenn.

The wide receiver was cleared to practice.

"As soon as he gets here, he'll be back with us," said Coach Dave Wannstedt. "It (the foot) was sore. He twisted it, it was sore and it was where he had the break last year. We just wanted to be positive. We didn't want to take a chance."

In his first year with the Dolphins in 2001, Ward was slowed all season after suffering a stress fracture in training camp.

The last thing the Dolphins want is a repeat of last year, which is why Friday's news was so encouraging.
