As expected, wide receiver Dedric Ward was back at practice on Saturday. Ward took part in the morning joint session with the Tennessee Titans, one day after visiting his doctor in New York to have his ailing foot checked out.<P>

Also back at practice on Saturday morning were Tim Bowens (resting), G Troy Andrew (knee) and DT Ernest Grant (migraine).

All three of them took part in the afternoon scrimmage.

G Jim Bundren (knee) and T Anthony Cesario (quad) did not make the trip to Nashville.

DT Larry Chester and G Mark Dixon, both of whom ended the 2001 season on IR because of broken fibulas, did not practice Saturday morning.

"Larry Chester and Mark Dixon were both sore, coming off the surgeries," said Coach Dave Wannstedt. "That's expected. They both worked extremely hard."

"I was almost afraid to ask," said Wannsteddt. "I was heading out early this morning for a run and got on the elevator and one of our offensive linemen was on there. He halfway scared me. I didn't even ask. I just looked at him. He said, 'Good morning, Coach.' I said, 'Good morning.' He got off the elevator and I got off the elevator."

-- Wannstedt said Saturday morning he likes what he has seen from young quarterback Tim Levcik and Zak Kustok, who are battling for the No. 3 job behind Jay Fiedler and Ray Lucas.

"I'm encouraged with both guys," Wannstedt said. "I really am. Tim has the ability to make the throws, and he did it today. He made some great throws under pressure. I've been encouraged with both of those guys."
