Here's a look at some notes, quotes and anecdotes from the Dolphins' 24-3 preseason victory over the Houston Texans.

-- The Dolphins may have suffered a loss along the offensive line, with Brent Smith going down with a knee injury in the first quarter. Smith, ironically, was in the game after replacing Todd Wade, who suffered a sprained ankle. Smith's right knee buckled while he was in pass protection and he left the game. The preliminary diagnosis was a knee sprain, but this one did not look good.

-- As for Wade, he said he could have come back had this been a regular season game, and the ankle sprain isn't believed to be serious.

-- Greg Jerman took over for Smith after he went down because Marcus Spriggs was sidelined because of back spasms.

-- DE Jason Taylor also was injured in the first half when he suffered a hyperextended left elbow, but he was back in action after missing only a couple of plays.

-- RB Robert Edwards scored his first touchdown in over three years when he ran it in from 1 yard out late in the third quarter. "Getting him a touchdown, that was great," said Coach Dave Wannstedt. "All the players were excited for him. He probably thought he'd never score another touchdown in the NFL."

-- Veteran Mark Royals did all the punting for the Dolphins, not a good sign for rookie free agent Casey Roussel when the first cutdown date coming up on Tuesday.

--What they said:

Tackle Mark Dixon: "I felt all right out there. There are thing I could have done better, but overall it went OK. Tonight was a pretty good step. I felt much better."

Fullback Rob Konrad: "People were quick to jump on us (after the New Orleans game), but we didn't have time to prepare."

Coach Dave Wannstedt (on QB Jay Fiedler): "Jay is a lot better. He's got work to do, though. He's not where he needs to be, but he's a lot better than he was a week ago."
