Decision Coming Soon?

We probably won't have to wait much longer for the Dolphins to have a new head coach, and at this point it's sure looking like it'll be either Chan Gailey or Brian Schottenheimer.

Those two reportedly have been flown to South Florida for a second interview with Dolphins officials, with former Atlanta head coach Jim Mora also being brought in.

But with word that Dom Capers has agreed to a lucrative three-year contract extension to remain as defensive coordinator, it clearly wouldn 't make a lot of sense to hire a coach with a defensive background. That would eliminate Mora.

With San Diego getting knocked out of the playoffs on Sunday, it's possible the Dolphins will want to talk again with Chargers offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and there's also the possibility of head coach Marty Schottenheimer being fired and possibly being pursued.

But at this point, it's looking like Gailey or Brian Schottenheimer, and the feeling is that an announcement will be coming sooner rather than later.

So don't be surprised if the Dolphins have a new head coach in the next couple of days.
