Coaching Staff Update

New Dolphins head coach Cam Cameron slowly is putting together his coaching staff, but the team still is without an offensive coordinator a week before the start of the annual scouting combine in Indianapolis.

The latest addition to the coaching staff was Steve Hoffman, who will join the Dolphins as assistant special teams coach.

Hoffman, who will assist special teams coach Keith Armstrong, has been in the NFL for 17 seasons and his specialty is working with kickers and punters.

Before spending one season with Atlanta in 2006, Hoffman had spent 16 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. Before that, Hoffman coached at the University of Miami.

Last week, the Dolphins added Diron Reynolds as defensive line coach and Matt Schiotz as strength and conditioning.

Reynolds, who spend the previous five seasons as defensive quality control coach with the Colts, replaced Dan Quinn, who was let go before joining the New York Jets.

As for Schiotz, he spent the last five years in San Diego with Cameron.

As for the offensive coordinator spot, a couple of names have been mentioned in connection with the job, such as Ken Zampese of the Bengals, Pete Carmichael Jr. of the Saints and former San Jose State and Rutgers head coach Terry Shea.
