Still Going

The Dolphins lost two more veteran players on Saturday, but that might not have been the most painful -- that occurred when one of their top free agent targets re-signed with his old team.

Gone are running back Sammy Morris, who has reached a deal with New England as an unrestricted free agent, and defensive tackle Dan Wilkinson, who was traded to Denver for a sixth-round pick in the 2007 draft.

As for the free agent target who got away, that would be guard Kris Dielman, who re-signed with San Diego with a six-year contract.

The trade involving Wilkinson actually was a good move because it was obvious they had no interest in bringing him back and at least they were able to get a draft pick out of it.

As for Morris, who will back up Laurence Maroney in New England, he would have been a guy to bring back and his departure means the Dolphins might step up efforts to re-sign Travis Minor as a third halfback and special teams core player.
