Scouting Report: DT Paul Soliai

The Dolphins went with defense in the fourth round with the selection of Utah defensive tackle Paul Soliaia. Here is TFY Draft Preview's complete pre-draft scouting report on the big defensive tackle, including bio, analysis and more.

School: Utah

HT: 6-4 WT: 344

40-Yard Dash: 5.14

Bio: Junior college transfer awarded All-Conference honors last year after a breakout campaign of 35/3.5/2. Totaled five tackles as a junior.

Positives: Big, powerful defender who clogs the middle of the field. Gets off the snap with a quick first step, focused on by opponents and plays with good balance. Powerful, gets a lot of force going up the field and splits double-team blocks. Plays with good pad level, quickly changes direction and gets out to the flanks making plays.

Negatives: Too large and must condition himself better as he wears down over the course of a game. Displays minimal hand technique and moves. Not known as a hard worker or one who remains focused.

Analysis: Soliai offers terrific upside but relies too much on his natural ability to get the job done. Could dominate at the next level or may end up a prospect who never meets expectations if he doesn't crank it up.
