Ricky Report

Ricky Williams won't be reinstated by the NFL anytime soon, according to a report on ESPN.com, which suggests the running back tested positive marijuana in April and won't be allowed to apply for reinstatement until September.

The Dolphins had no comment on the ESPN.com report. If the report is true, it probably means the end of the road for Williams in Miami.

Even before this bit of news came out, the feeling was that it was less than certain the Dolphins would welcome him back even if he had been reinstated by the NFL following his year-long suspension in 2006.

Unlike Dan Wilkinson, the defensive tackle the Dolphins traded in the offseason but retained after he failed to report to Denver to take a physical, Williams still is listed on the team roster.

But Coach Cam Cameron has refused to talk about Williams throughout the offseason, saying he wanted to focus on the players currently with the team. We should point out also that GM Randy Mueller was the GM in New Orleans in 2002 when the Saints traded Williams to Miami.
