Culpepper Takes a Step

With speculation that the Trent Green trade is on the verge of becoming reality, Daunte Culpepper took to the practice field on Friday with his teammates for an offseason training workout and later spoke to reporters about his situation.

Culpepper still isn't at 100 percent, but Friday's workout was another in a series of practices that not are as intense as the minicamps.

"I want to get my feet wet, throwing some balls to the guys," Culpepper said. "It's small steps right now."

This has been a difficult time for Culpepper, whose de facto mother passed away recently at the age of 92. The speculation about his future -- the feeling seems it's a foregone conclusion the Dolphins will let him go after they get Green -- hasn't been easy, either.

"It's tough, but you have to be able to deal with whatever comes at you," Culpepper said.

About his standing with the Dolphins specificially, Culpepper said: "I'm under contract, that's how I'm looking at it. Individually, I'm just going to work to get better. I want to get myself physically and mentally better. I'm going to be prepared for whatever happens. Either way I'm going to prepare myself to play this year."
