First Draft Pick Signed

The Dolphins got an early jump on getting their draft picks all signed when they reached a contract agreement with seventh-round pick Kelvin Smith.

Smith, who actually was the first of three seventh-round draft choices for the Dolphins this year, signed a four-year contract.

Smith was a four-year letterman at Syracuse (2003-06), where he started 45 of the 46 games in which he played during his career. He totaled 316 tackles, 21.5 stops for loss and six sacks during that time. He also intercepted five passes, forced two fumbles and recovered a pair as well. He had his most productive season as a senior when he finished second in the Big East Conference with 106 tackles, while also tallying a career-high three sacks.
