7 down, 3 to go

The Dolphins signed another draft pick on Thursday, inking center Samson Satele to a four-year contract. That leaves three draft picks out of 10 to sign before rookies are scheduled to report to training camp on Sunday, including the team's top two picks.

The three unsigned draft picks are first-round choice Ted Ginn Jr., second-round pick John Beck and sixth-rounder Drew Mormino, the offensive lineman from Central Michigan.

The Dolphins desperately want to avoid what happened the last two years when first Ronnie Brown and then Jason Allen missed the start of training camp because of a holdout and as a result fell behind.

Owner Wayne Huizenga, in fact, made almost threatening comments in the offseason when he suggested that holdouts would be not playing.

The Dolphins quickly signed six of their 10 draft picks, including third-round choice Lorenzo Booker and fourth-rounder Paul Soliai.

The first practice with the rookies is Tuesday. Veterans are scheduled to report next Friday, with the first full-team practice scheduled for next Saturday, July 28.
