No Taylor, Thomas Again

The Dolphins will do things pretty much the same way Thursday night in Kansas City as they did in their preseason opener, including keeping out defensive starters Jason Taylor, Zach Thomas and Keith Traylor.

The thinking behind that move is simple -- and sound.

Taylor, Thomas and Traylor all are over 30 years old, they're all veterans who know how to get ready for the season, and there's no need to expose them to the risk of injury.

We also now know how the playing time will be divided among the quarterbacks.

Trent Green again will start for the Dolphins, but he will play only the first quarter against the Chiefs after going the entire first half against Jacksonville.

Cleo Lemon again will get the second shot at quarterback and he will close out the first half. John Beck will start the second half and play one quarter or perhaps a little more before Gibran Hamdan closes out the game.

There's no word yet on whether wide receiver Marty Booker or cornerback Will Allen will play against Kansas City.

Booker sat out the Jaguars game with knee soreness, while Allen sustained a leg injury during Tuesday afternoon's practice.
