No Zach on Sunday

What looked like a strong possibility became reality on Friday when Coach Cam Cameron said that Zach Thomas would not play in Sunday's game against the New York Jets. Also declared out for the game was safety Donovin Darius.

Thomas will sit out the game because of a concussion he sustained early in last Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys.

It's the first time Thomas has missed a game since he sat out games against Oakland and Buffalo late in the 2005 season.

In Thomas' absence, Channing Crowder is expected to start at middle linebacker and either Derrick Pope or Donnie Spragan will be seeing action in Crowder's spot outside.

As for Darius, he has a calf injury, although we're not sure whether it's the same calf he injured in training camp while he was a member of the Oakland Raiders.

There is some good news on the injury front, though, because it looks as though cornerback Andre' Goodman will be making his 2007 debut against the Jets. He has been out while continuing to recover from offseason shoulder surgery.
