Ricky's First Practice

Ricky Williams practiced for the first time on Wednesday, and by all accounts looked good. But as far as whether he'll suit up Monday night when the Dolphins take on the Pittsburgh Steelers, no one was ready to make that proclamation just yet.

"I thought it was solid, and again, we've got one under our belt," Coach Cam Cameron said of Williams' performance at practice. "We're going to just continue to take it one day at a time and see if we can build from here."

The Dolphins actually might be in need of a running back Monday night because starting running back Jesse Chatman was limited in practice because of an ankle injury.

So Williams shared practice reps with Patrick Cobbs and Lorenzo Booker.

But when asked whether Chatman's injury might expedite Williams' return, Cameron wasn't ready to say that.

"I think we're going to do as much as we can each day, regardless of the situation," Cameron said. "At the same time, again, you can't get ahead of yourself. Here's a guy who hasn't played football in a while. Today was solid, and then we'll see what tomorrow brings, and have another good tomorrow."

In addition to Chatman, defensive tackle Keith Traylor (ankle) also was limited in practice.

Zach Thomas again didn't practice because of the concussion-related symptoms he has been experiencing, and Cameron said there was no change in his status.

Defensive end Matt Roth also didn't practice because of a groin injury that kept him out of Sunday's game at Philadelphia.
