Dorrell joins staff

The Dolphins added another assistant on Thursday, and it was another expected move. The latest addition is former UCLA head coach Karl Dorrell, who was hired as wide receivers coach.

There is a school of thought that Dorrell eventually could take over as the offensive coordinator. Dorrell spent five seasons as head coach at UCLA before being fired after the end of last season.

Dorrell's best season at UCLA was 2005 when he was shared Pac-10 Coach of the Year honors with USC's Pete Carroll after leading the Bruins to a 10-2 season.

Before his stint at UCLA, Dorrell was wide receivers coach for the Denver Broncos. Dorrell also has been an assistant at UCLA, Central Florida, Northern Arizona, Colorado, Arizona State and Washington.

Dorrell played five years at UCLA as a wide receiver in the early 1980s.
