Jason Taylor has been playing tremendous football the last several weeks, and it obviously hasn't gone unnoticed. He was rewarded for his efforts on Thursday by being named AFC Defensive Player of the Month.
In three games in October, Taylor compiled 15 tackles, four sacks, 13 quarterback pressures, two forced fumbles and a pass defensed. One of those games was the 24-22 victory at Denver, for which Taylor was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week.
Taylor became the second Dolphins player in as many years to win the Defensive Player of the Month award, following safety Brock Marion, who was honored for his play in December of 2001.
Overall, the Dolphins have had seven winners of this award since it was instituted in 1984. Taylor is the second defensive lineman to win it, following Jeff Cross, who shared the award with Dolphins linebacker John Offerdahl in October of 1990.
