Dolphins land Jones

The Dolphins won the battle for the services of cornerback Nathan Jones, adding yet another former member of the Dallas Cowboys. Jones signed a two-year deal Friday.

Jones is very similar to safety Keith Davis, another former Cowboys player signed by the Dolphins earlier this week. Like Davis, Jones is a special teams standout who was looking for more playing time on defense.

The Dolphins have every cornerback returning from last season, a group that includes Will Allen, Andre' Goodman, Michael Lehan and Jereme Perry, but it's not a great enough crew that Jones couldn't get on the field.

Another cornerback on the roster is three-year veteran Joey Thomas, who was in Dallas' training camp last summer.

Along with Davis, Thomas and Jones, other newcomers with a Cowboys connection are: DT Jason Ferguson, who played for Dallas last year; OL Trey Darilek, who was in Dallas' camp last summer; and TE Sean Ryan, who played for the Cowboys in 2004-05 before joining the Jets.
