Roster Move

Coach Tony Sparano indicated this week he wasn't totally pleased with the play at the right guard position, and that became obvious with the roster move made on Friday. Gone is Evan Mathis, who had been splitting time with Ikechuku Ndukwe, and up from the practice squad is Matt McChesney.

McChesney, who was signed to the Dolphins' practice squad on Sept. 24, began his NFL career as a defensive tackle, having originally signed with St. Louis as an undrafted college free agent in 2005.

He was signed to the Jets' practice squad midway through his rookie season before being activated to the team's 53-man roster for the final three games. McChesney, who played his college ball at Colorado, saw action in a reserve role in all three contests and posted three tackles. He spent all of 2006 on the Jets' practice squad before being converted to the offensive line during the 2007 offseason. In the spring of 2007, he started seven games at right guard for Frankfurt of the NFL Europa League. He also spent the first two games of 2008 on the Jets' practice squad.

As for Mathis, the nephew of former Dolphins great Bob Baumhower, he appeared in seven games after signing two days after the season opener.
