Major Kudos for Carpenter

Kicker Dan Carpenter has enjoyed a memorable rookie season for the Dolphins, and it just got better. The day after it was announced that Carpenter was leading all AFC kickers in Pro Bowl fan voting, he received a major award from the league. Also, the Dolphins have a new wide receiver on their active roster.

The new wide receiver is first-year player Chris Hannon from the University of Tennessee.

A track guy in college, Hannon was claimed off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers, who released him this week with the idea of re-signing them to their practice squad.

Hannon took the roster spot created when guard Justin Smiley was placed on injured reserve.

As for Carpenter, he was named Wednesday as the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for November.

During that time, Carpenter was 8-for-8 on field goals, including five from 40 yards or more. Another kick was the game-winner against Oakland in the final minute.

Carpenter became the second player in franchise history to be named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month; Olindo Mare was honored for his performance in October of 1999.
