Notes on the Dolphins' 2009 schedule
-- 2009 will mark the first time that the Dolphins have played both teams from Florida, the Jaguars and Buccaneers, during the regular season.
-- Miami will be making its 74th appearance on Monday Night Football. Since the inception of MNF in 1970, the only years in which the Dolphins did not make a Monday night appearance were in 1989, 2005 and 2008.
-- The Sept. 13 game at Atlanta will be the Dolphins' first clash with the Falcons since 2005, with Miami holding a 7-3 all-time record against Atlanta. The last time the Dolphins played a regular season game in Atlanta was December 27, 1998.
-- Miami was due to play in San Diego during the 2003 season, however wildfires caused the game to be relocated to Tempe, Ariz., and rescheduled to a Monday night contest. The Dolphins won the game 26-10. The Dolphins will be looking for their eighth straight win in this series, a streak which dates back to 1995 and includes a 17-10 victory at Dolphin Stadium during Week 5 last season.
-- The Oct. 25 game against New Orleans will be the Saints' first regular season visit to South Florida since 1998, when the Dolphins claimed a 30-10 victory on November 29th. Miami currently holds a two game winning streak against New Orleans. The last three regular season contests between the two clubs have been played at three different stadiums, 1995 at the Louisiana Superdome, 1998 at (then) Pro Player Stadium and in 2005 at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge due to Hurricane Katrina.
-- When the Dolphins face Tennessee on Dec. 20, they will look to extend their current winning streak against the Titans, having captured the last two wins at Dolphin Stadium. The last Miami victory against the Titans in Tennessee came on September 9, 2001, a 31-23 victory during Week 1.
-- The Dec. 27 game against Houston will mark the third straight year these teams have played one another and the first matchup at Dolphin Stadium since 2003. The Dolphins have never beaten the Texans.
