The Dolphins may have selected two cornerbacks in the first two rounds of the 2009 draft, but veteran Will Allen remains a big part of the team's plans. That became obvious on Tuesday with the news that Allen had signed a two-year contract extension through the 2011 season.
The news was announced by agent Drew Rosenhaus via Twitter. Rosenhaus wrote that the deal includes $10 million in guaranteed money and is worth $16.2 million over the next three years.
Allen, who joined the Dolphins as an unrestricted free agent in 2006, had been scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent following the 2009 season.
With Allen's signing, the list of potential Dolphins free agents next offseason now includes TE Anthony Fasano, NT Jason Ferguson, CB Nathan Jones, TE David Martin, QB Chad Pennington, OLB Matt Roth, OLB Jason Taylor, CB Joey Thomas and DE Rodrique Wright.
