The Dolphins will have a heavy presence in NFL Europe this spring after allocating eight players on Friday.

Headed for Europe are DT Maurice Anderson, G/C Troy Andrew, WR Robert Baker, RB Sedrick Irvin, G David Sherrod, P Kevin Stemke, LB Joshua Symonette and WR Shawn Terry.

Of the group, both Baker and Andrew finished the 2002 season with the Dolphins, although neither of them saw much playing time.

Among the others, the ones who stand to benefit the most are Irvin and Stemke.

Irvin needs to show the Dolphins he is completely over a knee injury that sidelined him while he was a member of the Detroit Lions. The Dolphins appear fairly set at running back, but nobody beyond Ricky Williams should be considered irrepleceable.

As for Stemke, he currently is the only punter who is signed. Veteran Mark Royals is expected to be re-signed, but he is coming off an average season and Stemke conceivably could compete for the job if he shows the form that helped him win the Ray Guy Award while at Wisconsin in 2000.
