Pasqualoni Fired

We reported last Friday that a source had indicated the Dolphins were looking around for a defensive coordinator, and that came into focus on Monday when the team announced it had fired Paul Pasqualoni.

The news came in a Dolphins press release where the exact terminology used was that the team had "terminated the contract of Defensive Coordinator Paul Pasqualoni."

"I want to thank Paul for his services to the team, and I want to wish him the best," Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano said in the release.

The speculation will turn now to who could replace Pasqualoni amid reports two logical candidates, both of whom have a history with Bill Parcells, are ready to be hired somewhere else.

One is former Browns head coach Romeo Crennel, who was said earlier Monday to be on the verge of joining the Kansas City Chiefs. The other is former Jets head coach Al Groh, who has drawn the interest of Georgia Tech.

Pasqualoni is the third defensive coach from last year's staff already gone. He follows George Edwards, who left to become an assistant at the University of Florida, and Jim Reid, who took a job at the University of Virginia.
