One of the Dolphins' four preseason games will be shown on national television, with CBS broadcasting the home game against Michael Vick and the Atlanta Falcons.

The game will be played Friday, Aug. 22 and will start at 8 p.m. Dates and times for the complete preseason schedule will be announced, but the league announced the national TV games on Wednesday.

In addition to Atlanta, the Dolphins' preseason schedule will include games against Tampa Bay (weekend of Aug. 7-11); at Jacksonville (Aug. 14-18); and at New Orleans (Aug. 28-31).

Coach Dave Wannstedt said Tuesday the agent for veteran wide receiver Cris Carter had told the Dolphins his client would only be interested in playing again if he were guaranteed a starting spot and Wannstedt said that wouldn't happen in Miami.

In the coach's words, the Dolphins want "to go in a different direction."

Veteran defensive end Rob Burnett made noise late last season about considering retirement, but Wannstedt said Tuesday he had talked to Burnett and was expecting the veteran back next season.

That's good news because of the pass rushing and leadership that Burnett brings.
