The Dolphins made some roster moves on Wednesday as they continued to work toward getting under the salary cap prior to Friday's deadline, and the most noteworthy transaction involved wide receiver Dedric Ward.

The veteran wideout and punt returner was among five players who were let go on Wednesday. The move shouldn't have come as much of a surprise considering Ward struggled last season and Coach Dave Wannstedt has frequently mentioned that he wanted to upgrade the wideout group.

The Dolphins terminated Ward's contract, as well as that of linebacker Twan Russell. Russell is a good guy in the locker room and a solid special teams player, but his body has been breaking down in recent years and he wasn't a factor on defense anyway.

The other moves involved waiving guard Jim Bundren (failed physical), wide receiver Joey Getherall and guard James Wagstaff.
