THE DAILY TAKE

The Daily Take will be posted every weekday at 3 p.m. and will offer our opinion on a pertinent topic involving the Dolphins. Today we look at the need for a kick returner.

Brian Mitchell has signed with the New York Giants. Jermaine Lewis is said to have drawn the interest of several teams, among them the Dolphins. Charlie Rogers also is available as an unrestricted free agent.

The Dolphins need to get either Lewis or Rogers, it's that simple.

The Dolphins look like they're going to return basically the same team on offense and defense in 2003, and that's fine because the team does have a lot of talent.

But it's not fine to not considerable upgrade the kick returning because it has been mediocre for way too long.

Dedric Ward and Robert Baker as punt returners, and Travis Minor and Brock Marion as kickoff returners have been OK the last couple of years, but the Dolphins really haven't had a home-run threat back there since ...

Can anybody actually remember the last time?

So please get somebody, anybody who can take it to the house or at least offers that threat.
