"Montavious Stanley had a nice training camp and preseason with the Jaguars last year, earning him a roster spot with his second go-round with the team. At 6-2, 300 pounds, Stanley is a nice fit as a 3-4 defensive end, as he isn't explosive off the edge yet too small to be a defensive tackle.
"Since the Jaguars experimented with the 3-4 for much of last year, Stanley fit in the rotation. At the end of 2009, the Jaguars' 3-4 wasn't getting any pressure on opposing quarterbacks (as referenced by the league-low number of sacks and highest opponents QB rating in the AFC), so they decided to switch back to the 4-3.
"Montavious Stanley was a guy who flashed from time to time during preseason, and even showed some signs of becoming a legitimate player in games, but couldn't sustain a high level of play. Miami should be a great place for Stanley as he should fit well and have a legitimate opportunity to win a job on the Dolphins' young defensive line.
"This will only be the third 3-4 team that Stanley has played for during his six-year, five-team tenure in the NFL."
