Roster Shuffle Continues

The Dolphins have stayed busy turning over the roster since the final cuts, and on Monday they added a fifth post-cuts player with the signing of former Dallas No. 1 pick Bobby Carpenter.

Carpenter spent last season playing with the St. Louis Rams after being acquired in a trade for fellow former first-round pick Alex Barron. In Miami, Carpenter will provide depth at inside linebacker as well as contribute on special teams.

To make room on the roster for Carpenter, the Dolphins released veteran linebacker Charlie Anderson.

Anderson joins the list of veterans let go since the final cuts. The others included DE Charles Grant, DE Marques Douglas and G Cory Procter. Cornerback Will Allen, meanwhile, was placed on injured reserve, and given his age and salary that might be it for him in Miami.

Those last four players had to be let go because the Dolphins claimed four linemen on waivers on Sunday. The list included DE Clifton Geathers (Cleveland), DE Robert Rose (Seattle), G/T Jermey Parnell (New Orleans) and G/T Joe Reitz (Baltimore).

Geathers and Rose are rookies, while Parnell is a first-year player and Reitz is a second-year player. Geathers was a sixth-round pick in the 2010 draft, while the other three were undrafted out of college.
