Not sure that I'm completely sold on the idea yet. But the more I think about the possibility that the Eagles might be the "mystery team" interested in getting RGIII the better it sounds to me.
I'm not sure we couldn't have won last year with the team we had on the field if we had better production out of the QB position. All of our QB's last year were turnover machines. Vick will be our QB in 2012. But if his play doesn't improve knowing that Griffin was waiting in the wings is an intriguing proposition.
If you accept the premise that mistakes killed our team last year, most of the blame (not all, but a good amount) falls on our QB's. I'm as concerned with our QB play as I am with our LB situation going into this season.
RGIII is bigger and stronger than Vick, and almost as quick (faster than Cam Newton). He threw for 36 TD's and just 6 Int's last year, on his way to winning the Heisman Trophy. I don't even want to remember Vick's stats in those categories last year.
It might just be worth going all in and breaking the bank this year to draft him.Our QB situation could be solved for years to come. He has more potential than either McNabb or Vick.
If Castillo learns from last year and plays our CB's in positions and schemes that fit their talents, I world expect marked improvement from them this year.
Our OL and DL are already pretty good.
A healthy Nate Allen might improve our S position. And we can always try to upgrade our LB's and S's in FA.
The more I Think about the idea of going for RGIII, the better it looks to me.
